In the current epoch, depression and anxiety are frequent among the younger generation, especially, who are in their student life, because of societal pressure do not talk about it.

It is normal to talk about diseases or abnormalities of any part of the body, it is easy to say, Hey! I have a lung infection I am in the hospital. The same goes for other disorders and flaws as well. But when it comes to talking about our mental everybody tries to hide it or prefers not to tell as if the mind is not a part of the body.

In the current epoch, depression and anxiety are frequent among the younger generation, especially, who are in their student life, because of societal pressure do not talk about it.

We need to normalize talking about mental health in universities/colleges.

We need to normalize not to make fake excuses about viral and physical disorders whenever we have to skip classes because of anxiety.

We need to create an environment, where we can tell our teacher that we cannot present in front of the class because we have social anxiety.

We need to normalize the concept of Educational Anxiety and how it turns once THE TOPPER into an average student who cannot tolerate all this sudden change and feels like a failure.

We need to normalize campus anxiety where you feel like you have lost your charm, your friends, identity, and all of the sudden you missed the spotlight and lost your best of friends you used to have once in school or college.

We need to talk about MENTAL HEALTH.

We need not ridicule each other when they are not brave enough to tell you the truth about how they were not able to attend the class the whole week because every night before university, their heart would have beat out of rhythm, and every ounce of their body would have screamed not to go.

We need to normalize mental health leaves, so we do not have to fake PHYSICAL ILLNESSES for it anymore.

Let’s normalize talking about how being not up to the mark in academic activities changes student’s personality.

Let’s normalize talk about how mentally and physically students are affected when they are not prepared to give their best.

The trend of comparing students with other students whose performance is much prettier than him lowers his self-esteem and doubting his capabilities.

Let’s talk about why teachers always prefer intelligent students and give their all attention to them, why the average student is ignored when he is the one who needs attention and helps to enhance his performance but nobody is ready to talk about this.

Let’s normalize how teachers’ politics has ruined their passion and interest. Failing students just because of their ego issues is the worst thing teachers are doing.

As Richard Carlson has said, “STRESS is nothing more than a socially acceptable form of mental illness”.
